Description: Hampi in Karnataka, India, was once the site of a grand city, the capital of the Vijayanar Empire.
The Vijayanagar Empire fell in 1565 and the once grand capital fell into ruin. Visitors to the village of Hampi can now visit the ruins, now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The ancient stones shown were once part of the bazaar. |
